I am in love with my dogs. I see them as part of our family. We’ve developed deep relationships over the years together. As the years have passed our relationships have changed, too. I learned a lot about dog-human relationships from a fellow trainer and friend, Suzanne Clothier.

She has written many books and blogs that dig into the depths of human relationships with animals. Her most popular book “If Bones would Rain from the Sky” shares her journey as a young child to adulthood lilfe with animals. Suzanne talks about stories of really understanding the dog. How we can appreciate who they are as an individual. How we can make shifts to improve our relationships to be easier as we build onto the relationship.

When I’m working with dog parents during private lessons or in group classes I’m always looking for ways to share nuggest of wisdom to better understand their dog. It’s not all about creating an “obedient” dog. It’s about having a canine family member who understands how we communicate, the human understanding dog communication, and implementing tools for both end of the leash.
